Fairy Angel
The Fairy Angel is swearing to protect you at all times. The details on her wings and dress are inspired by Zentangle. Her pose is innovated from Rhett Eala’s red empire-cut dress that appeared in Metro Dec 2006-Jan 2007 issue.
The idea of making an angel is floating in my mind for quite some time. I wanted to make one for a special person (let’s call that person A) in my life undergoing a huge trial. The angel (yes, she is supposed to be an angel, not a fairy) is in the gesture of taking an oath because I’d like A to be assured that we are here. We can’t face the trial for A but he/she can always rest in our arms anytime she gets tired.
When I showed this drawing to my family, all of them said “What a cute fairy!” I protested, “She’s not a fairy, she’s an angel for A!” All of them said, “Angels have bird wings, not butterfly wings.” Well, so I surrendered. Fine she’s a fairy. But she’s still an angel to me. So I called her Fairy Angel.

Samantha’s Witching Hour
Samantha’s Witching Hour shows a blonde witch riding her legendary broomstick as she rides into the night sky. For quite a long time, the wall paper on my phone was the cartoonized poster of Bewitched. I just love Samantha, Daren, Tabitha and Sam’s mom who always messes up things for them. If witches were like Samantha, I want to be one.
Holly in a Hoop
Holly in a Hoop is inspired by one of the photo shoots of Australia’s Next Top Model. But the piece itself represents my desire to see a circus performance LIVE. I only saw Allegria on CD and it was magical! The girl in green tights and performed with hoola hoops was my favorite. She was acting as a snake and I could still hear the sound of the music she was dancing to.
Dayanara
Dayanara is inspired by my favorite Miss Universe Dayanara Torres’ cover in Metro Dec 2006-Jan 2007 issue. She was photographed by one of Philippines most sought-after photographer Xander Angeles while wearing a beautiful cream corset dress by PRADA.
Dayanara Torres was the first beauty queen that piqued my interest for beauty pageants. It was the first time I saw Miss Universe broadcasted live on Philippine television and she was promoting the event as she was the reigning queen at that time. Here rags to riches story appealed to me most.
My admiration for her led me to join beauty contests during my teens. I loved getting dolled up andpreparing talents and walking around in gowns and just showing off. If my parents had supported me, I would have pursued that life. Well, I guess, the glamorous life isn’t for me.
Lulu
Lulu is my 20’s inspired creation, a woman with a cigarette. It’s also an innovation of Lulu Tan-Gan’s dress that appeared in Metro Dec 2006-Jan 2007, thus the name.
There was a time when I thought smoking looked cool. I was just so lucky that summer came and I had to go home. I can’t smoke there so the habit was not formed. That’s how important parental guidance is.
